The Ottawa Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (Ottawa NPLC) is a not-for-profit organization that is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and officially incorporated on April 24, 2024. It is currently under construction and will be opening it's doors late Summer 2025.  The clinic does NOT charge for services provided. We use a team-based approach to address the physical, emotional, mental and social aspects of patients’ health. This means that our Nurse Practitioners can refer patients to specialists and other healthcare professionals, including those within our clinic.

What is a Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic (NPLC)?

Nurse Practitioner Led Clinics are a team-based health care delivery model in which Nurse Practitioners are your main health care providers. Nurse Practitioners provide comprehensive, accessible, and coordinated primary care services along with a team of health professionals. NP-Led Clinics utilize an evidence-based approach to their practice; focusing on health promotion, disease prevention and overall wellbeing.  Ontario has 27 NPLCs and was the first Province to introduce this model in 2006.

What is a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (NP)?

An NP is a highly trained healthcare professional who provides comprehensive, patient-centered care. NPs have advanced education and clinical training, allowing them to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of health conditions. Nurse Practitioners provide a full range of primary health care to people of all ages, they can prescribe medications, order and interpret tests, perform procedures, and refer patients to specialists when needed.  At the Ottawa NPLC NPs work as part of a health care team, NPs focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management.
